HOW TO GET INTERNSHIP

Many things in life are better when they are in combination with side dishes, like fries with a soda or coffee with sugar and cream or a salad with dressing.  Your education and an internship have a same nature of relationship.  Each field of study, which leads to a degree, has a unique vocabulary that encompasses the concepts and skills that will be used on a job within the field.  Good grades or a great GPA do show that a student has mastered the many ideas and vocabulary required to succeed in a particular major field of study. While it is absolutely necessary to master these concepts and skills in the classroom; what’s lacking is the additional “side dish” component of experience demonstrating the practical application, in a professional work setting, of those learned concepts and skills, like a coffee without the whipped cream, or salad without the dressing
Having just a great GPA is no longer enough. In an increasingly competitive employment situation and especially in a depressed economy an internship is invaluable for a student to have. It is critical to grasp that great grades and internship experience stand out on your resume and make you an outstanding candidate as a prospective employee; however, internship experience without great grades is not as favorably looked upon.  If we consider your education as the foundation for the rest of your life, then an internship might be considered the beginning of the building upon that foundation.  An internship can be inspiring and even life changing.  It may lead to a job, even your dream job.
“I can’t stress enough how important it is for the applicant to write a cover letter that is both clear and interesting and tells me this person is a good reporter and writer. If they’re just saying they want a job, that doesn’t excite me. I want that letter to entice me into their clips and résumé. The cover letter is the only original thing they send.”
says Paul Salsini, former staff development director for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
As students in mass communication classes, you probably have an advantage in gaining good communication skills. But you may not know how to market yourself well. Unless you know how to write a good résumé, even the best grade point average may not get you the job.
The importance of an internship experience cannot be overstated. Therefore, the payoff of an unpaid internship is that you will gain invaluable professional experience, where you might otherwise have none, your self-confidence and self-esteem grows, and statistics indicate that the percentage of the odds that you’ll be one of the people who finds a job easily dramatically increases, which after all is why you’re going to college in the first place.  At all levels of your education, you can earn credits toward your degrees.  Finally, your internship experience goes on your resume as professional experience.

INTERNSHIP is all about learning but the question is HOW CAN YOU FIND INTERNSHIP?

   Institute

First of all, start from your department. The journalism and mass communications program at your school is a good starting place. It may list job and internship opportunities on notice boards or your department Web site.
   References
If you are done with your department notice board, use your references. Use your parents’ references. It will definitely help you a lot.
   Professors
Professors in your department usually have good contacts in your field of study, so check with them as well.
   Websites
If you are seeking an opportunity at a specific news or public relations organization, check the Web site for that company. Agencies keep their websites updated by the new opportunities. But rely on that, because some websites aren’t updated
   Social media
If you don’t know much about organizations and agencies, then social media will be very beneficial.  You can get more information by social media.
   Newspapers
Along with all the research, keep searching in newspapers as well. Many agencies give advertisement in newspapers.
Now you have found the agency where you want to do your internship then HOW CAN YOU APPLY FOR INTERNSHIP?
It’s very easy but determination and a hard work is required.First of all do a very good research on the chosen agency. Keep checking its website. Now contact the editor or a hiring officer and collect required information. Now write a good application. Write agencies name. If you don’t knowthe name of a person to whom you should send your applicationthen simply write “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN” instead of wrong name. Now send the application VIA E-MAIL but also post its PRINT COPY but don’t forget to attach your resume.
RESUME is short descriptive summary of your academic and work history. Some basic rules to write resume are as follows:
Limit your résumé to one page.
Arrange your topics from most recent to previous, such as current experience followed by previous jobs.
  White paper is preferred.
If your experience in previous internships or jobs is more interesting

than your education, put the experience category first. If you have no experience or awards, eliminate the category; don’t write “none.”
You can start your résumé with an objective, a sentence that explains your job goal, or a summary, a paragraph that highlights yourskills and accomplishments.
Summaries are gaining favor with employers these days because they offer more information in a quick format than a vague objective.
Avoid bloopers like some people did in their resumes.
HOBBY: “I often use a laptop”
Experience: “I have an excellent track record, although I am not a horse.”
“Let’s meet, so you can ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ over my experience.”
“Finished eighth in my class of ten.”
"I'll starve without a job but don't feel you have to give me one."
"You are privileged to receive my resume.”
"Note: Keep this resume on top of the stack. Use all the others to heat your house."
Never use emoticons in your resume.

Now you get the call for INTERVIEW so if you want to be successful then:
  Dress Conservatively
  Be Prompt
  Be Prepared
  Concentrate
  Be Enthusiastic
  Be Polite
  Be Pleasant
  Be Yourself
QUESTIONS
Now let’s discuss some questions that might be asked in interview.
Why Do You Want to Work for This Organization?

It’s best to specify something you like about the organization if you are familiar with it. Or you could say you are seeking a variety of experiences, particularly if it’s a small newspaper or television station, where reporters tend to do all types of stories. If it’s a large organization, you could say you’re attracted by the prestige of the publication or station or the chance to learn from very experienced journalists.

Why did you choose this profession?
Don’t say that you didn’t get admission in medical or engineering so you chose this profession. Always be proud of your profession.
What Can You Do for This Organization, or Why Should I Hire You?

What do you think about this organization?
Don’t say you can turn the organization around or make it wonderful. But do say something about the types of stories you would like to do, or say that you would be willing to do all types of stories. Don’t be arrogant.
What was your favorite stuff that you wrote or produced? And why did you like it?
Give the honest answer.

What questions do you have?
This question is very important. Here’s where you get your chance to ask about the company, the workload, perhaps what the editors want or expect from reporters and copy editors. You could ask about a probationary period. You could also ask about salary, benefits and other compensation; generally, however, that shouldn’t be your first question.
At the end of the interview, don’t forget to thank the interviewer for his or her time and interest.

Your Degree is a great beginning.  Being able to earn practical experience and credit towards your degree is an exciting prospect that adds an additional virtual dimension to the educational process.  No longer is simply a classroom education with a 4.0 GPA enough.  Employers want to see the multi-dimensional thinking necessary to succeed in the very dynamic and ever-changing workplace. The process of to successfully applying, interviewing, obtaining, and fulfilling the responsibilities of an internship demonstrates an understanding and ability to sequence and carry out a complicated plan.  The plan to do an internship in turn is perfect practice to finding a job. If you have successfully carried out an internship you have all of the necessary skills to do the same for employment.  When the time comes for you to seek and find your “Dream Job” you will be well prepared and groomed to get what you want in life.

What is fashion all about!

Fashion means a popular  trend.  specially in styles of dress or jewelry, ornaments or manners of behaviour.  Fashion is always changing, slightly elusive. The word fashion is specially used for style in clothing, footwear, accessories and things that you want to decorate is also fashion.
Fashion has been changing all over the word rapidly by the time, old fashion is also coming back as the people are getting aware not to cloth or buy new expensive fashion that they do not want to wear or apply to their homes or places where they work. Fashion has been very popular among the people as the time passes. Because fashion is an ambition that everyone wants. Almost every person likes to wear fashion wear. Fashion is the best way to make some one look at you; fashion can make you attractive and can give you a friendly environment with your fellow employees or workers or with people you have a social interaction.
Fashion nowadays is very popular in society and very expensive too because the demand is almost 100%. You can see that almost every person of every society or standard weather  middle class or high class celebrities, they demand for the best fashion available in the market. It means that the demands of fashion designers are rapidly increasing because population is increasing all over the globe. What styles do you most comfortable wearing? That world of fashion and design is very convincing with intrigue and excitement that people like you, who is among those with various fashion trends. Fashions are all in the latest models. With this knowledge, give an idea of the real personality that you have always wanted to show how they, as well as those who have made a mark in the world mod that most men and women got.
Fashion is one of the most interesting features in the world. Its most important aspect is culture. Different types of clothes are fashioned and worn in different cultures. There are a number of colours and the variety of clothes that are worn by different people in different ares of the globe. There are various types of styles colours, clothing and accessories. Mode represents a different culture to another.
Fashion is a great way to express feelings. Bright clours indicate happiness. And displays the opposite colours probably sad, especially on a day like everyone wears black. Mode also depends on the mood and situation. People dress according to occasion. Love some of the happiest moments of life or of any other party or wedding people to wear elegant and bright colours.  And in some sad situations or the loss of someone most people dressed in white clothes and black, depending on the region or culture.
Therefore , fashion is the only thing that makes your special day with your loved ones.
Pakistan is a third world country economically its not that much established that we can afford fashion as our daily life. But I must say that No department of life as be it economic, cultural, religious or recreational has been free from the effect of this great transformation in progress. Everybody wants to follow the latest trends of the new era. But Pakistan is very wich in use of bright colours, long dresses, especially in certain events and special occasions. Pakistan has number of cultures and festivals. For each festival they use different types of clothing and appearances.
It’s in human nature that he always wants change in life, like in basic change in our clothing’s. We may do whatever makes us happy. even if we talk about Pakistan, we come to know that Pakistan has been change a lot, From the independence day of August 14, 1947 up to date, Pakistan’s has been a society in transition. The society of Pakistan is dynamic and therefore ever-changing, and its patterns are changing transforming from time to time.

So if want to move with today’s world we have to follow the fashion,Becaue its today’s need if we don’t follow that people think we r dumb we know nothing about fashion and we cant move in society.
Fashion has gone through changes in this century and especially in women’s fashion, in the dressing and adorning of the hair, became equally complex and changing. Fashion, by definition, changes constantly its almost standing alone in comparison with other walks of life as long as change is concerned. But it is actually we who are responsible for changes in fashion as it is rightly said that “Things don’t change, we change”. Young People enjoy the diversity and change in their looks and outfits and they are playing key role to fashion industry .Young boys and girls are always in craze to look smart and up to date. It is also in human nature to look smart and be appreciated by the social circle of one’s own.
In Pakistan there is three types of people
1. Who follow fashion trends blindly
2. Who follow fashion with there need
3. Who don’t follow any trend at all
But there is a very little room for the first ones, because most of the fashions trends are against Islam. But now I love to share with you this news that some of the famous fashion designers take the Muslim fashion clothing very seriously and they worked a lot in development of Muslim fashion designing. Many famous designers designed Muslim fashion cloths are now easily available on the online shops. One can buy it very easily online or at outlets where they are available with huge discount.
Pakistan, Lahore is a center of all types of Muslim fashion. The major clothing markets offer the latest trends and styles of clothing articles regardless of the origin.
However, only a few years ago buying ready-made stylish abayas in Lahore was not as easy, as only the plain and classic ones were largely available. Today there are retail stores for trendy abayas and hijabs open all around the fashion districts of Pakistan.
Muslim Fashion Clothes Fashion entrepreneurs who understood the need for modern fashion Islamic clothing started launching stylish boutiques that offer these garments in an assortment of colours, styles and designs even Pakistani government is supporting the fashion industry in Pakistan now the Federal Minister, Malik Naeem Khan's directive for raising the exports of finished goods three-fold within a period of three and half years is highly commendable in principle and is one of the targets required for reducing the balanced of payment deficit in order to put the economy on a sound track.
There is no denying the fact that the exports of value-added products not only accelerate the rate of foreign exchange inflow but help strengthen the local industrial infrastructure also so that they could be able to compete in the world markets.
Be your own fashion guru: How to find your own sense of style
Don't panic if the catwalk shows and the new styles flying into the shops have left you confused by what you should be wearing.

The secret to looking fabulous is not about slavishly following fashion or looking like a supermodel, it's about finding your own style.
Pakistani fashion is the way to represent the culture of Pakistan in the easiest and convenient manner, there are lots of fashion designers who are working to promote the fashion of Pakistan as well as developing the sense of fashion in their own way. Someone emphasises on Balochi culture while some focus on Sindhi culture other shows interest in Punjabi and Pathan culture and so on. This new era of fashion attracts people towards itself and the demand of branded designer oriented clothes increases. Bonanza, Gul Ahmad, Maria B, Sana Safina, Breeze, Khadi and many more.
But at the end I want you to decide that what is good and what is bad for us???
I acknowledge that enjoyment is the part of the life and life becomes so colorless without this, but there are several means of enjoyment. Enjoyment should be productive, free from prejudices, lies and all kind of cheatings. Now we should be care about the norms and values of the society and we should work together for the sake of these……

Pakistani Film Industry

When I inadvertently changed the channel of my television, I heard a devilish laughter of a heavy curled moustached man, wearing kurta dhoti, and here the villain of Pakistani Film has captured the heroine. Crying out loud and pleas to help; she then tries to get rid of the villain, then camera zooms up from the face of villain to the entrance of hero in the scene. Hero enters with the devious smile on his face booming with the dread that he is going to spread. As expected from the makers of the film they all start fighting with the dhsoom sounds in background.

Such typical type of scenes in Pakistani films seems necessary; the fighting might take place in fields, havelis, and mountain footings. But wherever it is, it has to be in Urdu, Punjabi or Pushto.

Welcome to Lollywood, or what’s left of it. Since the decline of Pakistani cinema in 70’s the originality of the stories, the good script, the meaningful dialogues, and innovation of the story plots has disappeared. It is all the same a poor village culture that is shown with hero being dressed up like a villain. Not ready at all to accept the affection of the heroine and being crazily in love with her when the villain enters.

The reasons for NOT liking Pakistani movies is not that we have become habitual of watching and admiring Hollywood or Bollywood, it’s just that Pakistani film makers are continuously portraying what is solemnly not in OUR culture. The film industry should be producing something that is matching our culture so people can affiliate themselves with the characters of the film. In olden times the industry was in so boom that people were fond of watching the movies in cinema. The cinemas used to be literally “houseful” and the audience used to relate and enjoy the films to their extremes.

But now, the Odeon Cinema's creaky, ripped red vinyl seats are mostly empty except for a couple of back rows where a dozen Pakistani men sit slouched, their eyes half-open, legs slung over the seats in front of them. Along the hall's bubble-gum pink walls, rows of fans barely move the hot, dank air. The Odeon's loudspeakers crackle like a ham radio.
The industry is in sharp decline and here we are doing nothing to make The industry has never been like this from its emergence, in 60’s and 70’s Lollywood gave so many hits and Lahore was buzzed with so many movie premiers and red carpets that it is considered to be the best era for Pakistani film industry. The Pakistani film industry has always been based in Lahore; lollywood thrived in a country staking out its identity which is different from the neighboring country. Today Pakistani film industry has all but vanished and has become the victim of cable, VCR, Islamization by General Zia-ul-Haq and of course by the DVD piracy.

The stigma attached to the film industry in Pakistan has been aggravated by policies that have dominated the state. The political regimes of the country have been an obstacle in the way of the success of Pakistani cinema. It seems light years when Pakistani film industry was in so bloom that people all the way from villages and small towns used to visit Lahore just for the sake of watching Pakistani movie.

In 1985, 1,100 movie houses operated in Pakistan; today, only 120 are in business. The few directors, producers and cinema owners often rely on second jobs to make ends meet.

The solution is not banning the movies of Bollywood or Hollywood in Pakistan but the best way is to PRODUCE something worth watching for the audience. we must be able to appreciate the efforts of Pakistani film industry now. Because they are trying their best from last 10 years.

As we see in the movies no one ever dies without fight so here we are witnessing the fight of the Film industry of Pakistan for their revival. A bunch of good movies in last past 5 years have raised the standards of our films a little more.  As the sudden re-emergence of Bollywood has been seen in our cinemas the great Shoaib Mansoor has produced the best of all times movies Khuda kay liye.  It has been a great success for the falling industry. It has been built on a strong story plot. From the actors to the cameras, from the scenes and to the idea it is considered to be the best movie so far.

At the moment Shoaib Mansoor’s movie Bol has been gaining much importance and praise from the viewers because it depicts the culture of our small towns and illiterate people. It is emotionally and ethically a must watch for every Pakistani.

Sometimes the film makers claim that due to the lack of fiancés they are unable to build good movies but according to my point of view the main hurdle is the sincerity that is missing towards the art. We are blessed with the best actors and locations and ideas, if we want to we can be making a lot of good movies starting from a smaller scale. There is obviously no deficiency in innovative ideas in Pakistani people. But across the board, directors have bemoaned the weakness of infrastructure, the poor state of studios, the lack of actors and festivals as well as official and/or professional funding channels.

It’s not that easy to kill a monster, defeat a villain, or win a girls heart – as with every movie there are bumps along the way. A filmmaker may have an idea, the script, the equipment and the actors. Even with the digital revolution and a new age in filmmaking, a little bit of investment is required.
Nothing comes for free, because let’s face it, this ain't the movies. Filmmakers in Pakistan often finance their own films. There are no glitzy production houses willing to risk investing in films.

The Pakistani film industry does not need to compete. I believe it can co-exist on a smaller scale. What it needs to focus on is quality and innovation and once it finds a following, it can evolve and expand respectively. So what we have to do is start.

Cosmetic Surgery

As we see the increasing trends we get confused about our looks. So people who are becoming all the time more conscious about their looks turn towards altering their features. But the question is does it make them look prettier? We shall see some popular case studies in order to make our decision on whether we are perfect the way we are or we should satisfy our anxiety about this matter by going through procedures.
Cosmetic surgery is concerned with the correction, restoration or enhancement of the body. But in this article we shall only discuss the facial surgeries that people opt in order to look attractive than they already are. There are many types of cosmetic surgeries nose job, face lifting, Botox, fillers, cheek implants and face augmentation. People go through these processes in order to look attractive and confident than others. It has become leaning for distressed people. Cosmetic surgery is growing to be popular in a developing country like Pakistan. Middle aged men and women in industry are turning to have their facial features altered through different processes.

The increasingly performed cosmetic surgery is Nose surgery, but of course like other cosmetic surgeries this is also not only very expensive but may prove to ruin the natural beauty of your face. It is popular in reshaping the nose and maintains balance in facial features. The cost price for rhinoplasty (also known as nose job) ranges from more or less Rs. 150,000 to Rs. 300,000. The prices depend on the type of anaesthesia that is applied during surgery. The price of general anaesthesia is more than the local one. Costumers are allowed to choose wisely on which type of anaesthesia they want.
Another type of cosmetic surgery which is mounting in Pakistan is Botox (face lifting). Botox is a nonsurgical therapy that can make a notable difference in softening and virtually eradicating deep furrows and creases between your eye brows, grooves on your forehead, and crow's feet around your eyes. This is also an expensive treatment with the price range of Rs. 250,000 to 400,000. Surgeons with more skills and proficiency might cost higher than the price mentioned.

A beautiful and younger looking face is the wish and dream of everyone around the globe despite of any race or colour. Everybody wants to look younger; aging might cause them to think about the various treatments for making them look youthful and refreshing. The most popular and easy for such people is a non-surgical treatment. People undergoing this type of surgery have to stay in hospital for 1 to 2 days under supervision of professionals in case of any sign of allergy on skin.
In Pakistan according to a survey 89% of the cosmetic procedures are carried on women and only 11% are carried on Men which show that women are more unsatisfied with their features than men.
According to a scientific research after cosmetic surgery the attractiveness of a person is increased by 0.08 on a scale of 1 to 10. When we ponder over the facts of how expensive and insignificant the surgery is we conclude that 0.08 is nothing worthy. Getting confused about being “hot or not” urges people to undergo such surgeries. When society ignores and discourages persons because of their looks, they lose self-confidence and turns towards artificial way of looking better than they originally are. No one can stop the natural phenomena of aging but making it slower is now possible, which is in fact a blessing to worried souls.

Every surgical procedure has certain risks so as cosmetic surgery. There are many notorious stories which reveal the hidden dangers of cosmetic surgeries.  The main risks of aesthetic plastic surgery operations are refusal of implants, sensory change in or around the operation area, decolourisation of the skin, tissue necrosis, asymmetry, infection, formation of bad scar tissue, and allergic reactions to the anaesthetic. In order to reduce the percentage of any risk, it’s sensible to go for very experienced and qualified surgeon.

As we all are very well familiar with the legend Michael Jackson (singer) and his obsession for the cosmetic surgeries. We can witness how his complexion and facial features changed by having surgeries over and over with the passage of time. Like many other patients Michael Jackson sought to hide his cosmetic surgeries from public. He lost the innocence of his face by enduring several nose jobs, cheek implants and putting cleft in his chin. Jackson even tried to reverse the impact of surgeries by using various fillers on his nose but all in vain, because once it is done it is done and the effect cannot be reversed in any way.  In an interview Jackson claimed that “I don’t want to be who I am, it hurts me”. This shows that no matter how famous or lovable a person is by the world, achieving an inner satisfaction is pretty hard and tough.

Another case that is gaining popularity among people is Bruce Jenner’s obsession for plastic surgeries. According to news Bruce hates his appearance and he wants to modify his facial features. He went through many nose jobs and face lifts. Bruce Jenner got a cosmetic procedure done in front of the audience. He had even abridged the extra fat from his eyelids. It seems that Bruce is struggling to regain his youth because he was a good looking man to begin with. His family is non-supportive of his obsession and they say that Bruce won’t listen to them.

Coming to Pakistani television industry we witness many faces who have undertaken the risk of altering their facial features.

Many actresses are beautiful in the way they are but as they lose the youth and freshness of their face, they lose getting jobs. Prominent among them are Fizza Ali, Sadia Imam, Bushra Ansari, Hadiqa Qiyani and Mona Liza. Their surgeries did not prove favourable to them. Instead it increased loathe to plastic surgery by many people.

Sadia Imam has done several nose jobs, cheek implants and lips augmentation which has made her face look stiff and she is facing hard times in making facial expressions. Mona Liza had lip augmentation, but in fact her lips look swollen like a duck. The upper and lower lip is of the same size which looks unnatural.

Sometimes it is best to leave your face untouched and unaltered. This article has been written to make sure that you already know all the consequences of plastic surgery before you decide of having one. The mission is to guide you in achieving your goals of looking your best.
